On today’s episode of the Project Management for the Masses Podcast I speak with my friend and PM expert Colin Ellis, who joins me from Melbourne, Australia. Colin is an experienced professional who speaks on a variety of topics, including introducing folks to the PM profession. Colin will share his best tips on how to get started and perhaps even get your first job as a project manager.
Colin has been in project management for almost 20 years, starting out as a project manager for Year 2000 IT implementations and working his way up to head up project departments for large corporates and government agencies in the UK, New Zealand and Australia.
He is obsessed with removing the academic approach that afflicts project management today and putting the emphasis back on good people with good behaviours doing great things. He is considered to be an expert and thought leader in his profession.
Whilst originally from Liverpool in the UK, Colin now lives with his wife and two children in Melbourne, Australia.
Also in this episode career coach Dev Ramcharan shares with us how to make better use of our free time to propel our career forward.
Dave Gordon from the Practicing IT Project Manager blog shares with us the most relevant articles related to project management that were published last week. If you’d like to filter through all the content related to PM out there on the web, check out his very condensed list by listening to today’s episode.
I also share in this episode that my book is finally being reviewed by the editor. In the next week or so I should receive it back with changes and suggestions for updates (you can preorder it here: http://projectmanagementforyou.com). In the meantime I have been working with the cover design and am excited to share what we have so far:
I hope you like it! Let me know in the comment box below your thoughts.
